DesertArc Celebrates 50 years of Service

DesertArc celebrated its 50th Anniversary on Friday, April 9th 2010 with an extravagant carnival event tailored to the needs of our consumers. The carnival had 10 midway games, a large slide, rock climbing wall, bungee run, and a dunk tank. There were also art projects for all to enjoy. The day was highly enthusiastic with the lyrics of live music and special guests from the local Fire Department, Sheriff Station, Red Robin, Palm Springs Power, Animal Samaritans, and JC Penny's retail store. The carnival, lunch, and beverages were provided at no charge; thanks to the generous donation from the Beneto Foundation and DesertArc's on-going nacho sales. The DesertArc's Client Council stated, "It was really a lot of fun for all of us!"

2nd Annual DesertArc & The First Tee Golf Tournament

The 2nd Annual DesertArc & The First Tee Golf Tournament was a success! The event was held on Sunday, May 2, 2010, 7:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at The First Tee Golf Course located in Palm Desert.

The First Tee is a non-profit organization whose mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.

DesertArc's mission is to enhance the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities; and in addition, DesertArc strives to increase the learning capabilities and social skills of its consumers. This tournament achieves just that! DesertArc clients enjoyed the day alongside The First Tee students and together they played the game of golf.

Although this tournament was not a fundraiser, special thanks go out to the Beneto Foundation, Powers Awards, and DesertArc Sports and Wellness; it would not have been possible without their generosity. Also, a special recognition goes out to the volunteers who continuously show their support.
