Behavior Management

The Behavior Management Program is divided into two components. The first is made up of individuals that are unable to participate in Adult Day Care due to their severe behavioral challenges. These clients require assistance with their activities of daily living and work on goals such as decreasing their inappropriate behaviors, increasing communication skills and improving their social skills.

The second component of the Behavior Management program is designed to provide paid vocational training to individuals with significant behavioral challenges. The individuals that participate in this program are unable to participate in other paid vocational training programs open to other clients due to their aggressive behaviors. Many of the clients that attend the Behavior Management program have transitioned from residing in State Developmental Centers to group homes within the community. The program has enhanced staffing ratios, and staff participates in additional training such as Active Treatment Crisis Management and Crisis Prevention to assist them in dealing with aggressive behaviors.

The program offers a wide variety of vocational training programs such as an on-site sheltered workshop for tasks like small assembly, labeling, packaging and janitorial. The program has also established a mobile work crew for jobs such as curb painting, and Enclaves at Champion Cadillac and Animal Samaritans.
