Adult Day Center

The Adult Day Center (ADC) provides services to 90+ clients at the Palm Desert Facility and 25+ clients at the Yucca Valley Facility. The clients serviced have varying disabilities and are both ambulatory and non-ambulatory; many clients utilizing wheelchairs. ADC clients are DesertArc’s most severely disabled and medically compromised; requiring substantial staff assistance and care.

ADC's program design has its foundational roots in sensory exploration and sensory integration. ADC is pleased to offer a multimedia, state of the art Snoezelen Room—a room enriched with sensory items that allow for exploration of the world through the senses. ADC’s program is designed to assist individuals in learning daily living skills, social skills and communication skills while promoting community based instruction and client independence. Since community based instruction is a key element in ADC’s program design, clients participate in community outings such as; The Living Desert, local museums, Pegasus Riding Academy, bowling, Children’s Discovery Museum, parks and recreation services, etc. During on-site programming, the clients participate in learning daily living skills, computer skills, fine & gross motor skills, arts & crafts, and communication skills. ADC’s program offers four main components; General ADC, Intermediate, Pre-Vocational and a Senior group; clients are placed in groups based on their abilities.

The ADC program is funded by Inland Regional Center and is licensed through the State of California, Community Care Licensing Division with the required staffing of a 1:3 ratio at all times.
