Day of Games Event Nets $28,000 in Donations for DesertArc
3/10/2008 The 8th Annual “Day of Games” charity event benefitting DesertArc drew nearly 200 people. Held at the Mission Hills Westin Resort and Spa on February 13, the event featured an elegant luncheon and card games including bridge, mahjongg, pan and euchre. The day’s activities included a raffle for gift baskets, a silent auction and music. A video featuring DesertArc’s clients enrolled in its programs highlighted the lunch program. Read More...
DesertArc Enhances Hot Meal Program for Disabled Clients Cost for Lunch Meals Drops Nearly 40%, Breakfast Program Added and Client Participation has Tripled 03/03/2008 DesertArc announced important changes that will provide its clients with better access to the Hot Meal Program provided at its main campus located in Palm Desert. DesertArc is a non-profit agency that serves 630 developmentally disabled people living in greater Coachella Valley. Two hundred seventy clients attend programs daily at the main campus. Read More...

12/18/07 The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that it has changed the name of the Foundation for the Retarded of the Desert. Effective December 18, 2007, the name of the non-profit agency is DesertArc. The non-profit agency will no longer be known as a Foundation. It is officially named “DesertArc Corporation” but the name DesertArc will be used exclusively to refer to the agency. Read More
11/13/2007 The membership of the Foundation for the Retarded of the Desert voted overwhelmingly in favor of passing a resolution to amend the By-Laws to end the voting membership of the Foundation for the Retarded of the Desert. The Board of Directors is now entrusted with the responsibility to vote on all matters before the board, including elections, resolutions, policies, by-laws amendments and all other matters subject to vote. A second resolution extending the board members’ terms foranother year was also passed. The vote tally is as follows:
Of the 118 qualified members eligible to vote, 89 ballotswere cast.
77 members voted for the dissolution of the votingmembership, 12 against. 72 members voted for the extension of board members’ termsfor one year, 17 against.
Members are welcome to attend the Annual Membership Meetingon November 27, 2007 at 5:30p.m. at the Foundation for the Retarded for othernews and updates regarding the Foundation.
